In addition to assisting cancer patients and their caregivers, the board of directors supports local oncology education and research. The foundation has available ten $200 educational scholarships for the oncology nurses at each area hospital. This enables oncology nurses employed at the hospitals to receive financial reimbursement for the expense of going to courses to maintain their oncology and chemotherapy certification.

Space Coast Cancer Foundation (SCCF) has set the date for the 6th Annual Daffodil Gala for the evening of August 18, 2012 at the Holiday Inn-Viera. This event will be filled with great food, lively music, dancing and the rewarding feeling knowing that you are supporting people in our community whose lives have been affected by cancer. The SCCF assists local cancer patients and their caregivers with the financial and emotional demands that are associated with the diagnosis and treatment of cancer, as well as, supporting oncology education. Locals Donate in Support of Cancer Patients
Recently, Space Coast Cancer Foundation received a $5,000 donation from local businesswoman Susan Moore to support local cancer patients. Moore is the President/CEO of Beach Organics ™Skin Care in Cocoa, a maker and distributor of handcrafted soaps, bath salts, lotions and beach-inspired beauty products, all made from natural, organic ingredients. Also, Viera artist Carl McGrady recently made a contribution of talent by donating his original painting of a Yellow Daffodil to Space Coast Cancer Foundation with the intention of auctioning it off at the 6th Annual Daffodil Gala scheduled for August 18, 2012. In addition to the painting, McGrady fabricated and packaged 100 Daffodil notecard sets of 5, as well as, 100 poster prints (11” x 17”) for Space Coast Cancer Foundation to sell. The notecard sets and prints are $10.00 each and can be purchased at any Space Coast Cancer Center offices in Titusville, Merritt Island, Cocoa Beach and Viera. “They took care of a friend and this is my way of showing gratitude for the work they do”, states McGrady.
